Land Acknowledgement
Peace in the Wild acknowledges that the lands we explore and steward in Georgia are the ancestral homelands of the Muscogee (Creek) and Cherokee peoples, who were forcibly removed through colonization and displacement. We also recognize the deep history of African Americans on this land—those who were enslaved, labored on and shaped these landscapes, and later built communities despite systemic oppression and racial violence. We honor their resilience, contributions, and cultural connections to these landscapes. As we engage with these spaces, we commit to responsible stewardship, uplifting Indigenous and Black histories, and fostering deeper respect for the land and its original caretakers.
